Forum Title: Flocked carpet
Do you guys lay flocked carpet like flotex? I haven't installed it since a couple of years, but i think it's awesome stuff. it lays down really fast. Are there any other brands that are just as good as flotex?

I had to Google it. I have never heard of it, thus never installed it. Forbo Flooring Systems | Flotex flocked flooring

Flocked carpets have been around longer than I have been in the biz. They have had highs and lows over the years but have only gained an extremely small market segment at their best of times. It is basically an electrostatic charge of backing causing individual fiber to be polarized and embed vertically in the binder, a synthetic material as opposed to latex. The fibers are usually very short but they can achieve an amazing density factor with this process. Fiber bind is suspect but with single fibers and the very low pile height, this is not an issue for performance. Interface's old I tuft tiles were actually a form of this although done on a horizontal platform with one backing as opposed to the more common vertical method into two backing that are split to make to pieces of goods. More info available if anyone is interested...
